Hey guys, just have a little modding question about my Palit card...
__________________I have the short PCB Gold edition of this car which looks like this ![]() and i have a few questions... First of all i ordered Accelero S1 rev 2 to replace the stock HSF because its so damn loud, even at 6% Fan speed, but it got me thinking too... why is this card shorter by 2-2,5inches? I heard it has something to do with the PWM area on the card, and i can notice the RAM modules are not so much spaced. This raised a concern regarding my ordering of Accelero S1 and got me thinking if i'll be able to use PWM or RAM heatsinks that come with the S1 in the package... And the other thing is... well i already mentioned that the stock fan is awfully loud at even 6%... Fan has 2-pin connector, but i noticed that the card itself has a 2-pin male connector, and another 2 soldering spots right next to it... So im thinkig is it possible to remove the 2-pin male connector with a 4-pin male connector and get a 120mm 4-pin PWM fan and make it work on the card? Anyone ever tried to do this on a HD4850 card? Or does anyone have this card that can share what they've learned so far? OH YES ... and my guess is that the 8x small thingies (on the left, close to DVI's) are part of the PWM on the card, together with 3x Black Cubes (2x left, 1x right)?!?! Am i right, or not?Or is there 11x small thingies (8x left, 3x right) and 3x black cube thingies (2x left, 1x right) ?! ![]() Hope anyone can shed some light on the issue... ![]() Tnx a lot...

The rev 2 RAM heastsinks are very poor. Buy some with the GPU heatsink would be a great idea. As for modding for a fan... I don't know. Mine came with a three pin fan that I was unable to mod to fit a 120mm case fan, do to the way it was positioned on the card. I would just plug it into a fan header on your board, and use either zip ties or double sided tape (what I did) to stick one or two 120mm fans to the heatsink. I have had fantastic results with that.

My Palit cooler is inaudible and the card is about an ich shorter than my friends 8800GTX.
