ATI has mentioned that it will eventually be activated via drivers. When it does, it should increase the card's over speed by 10-15% $10 says it will be enabled in a driver release that coincides with the nvidia gtx295 release....

LOL, I hope they do! That would be so great...You think Nvidia can beat ATI finally, then out of the blue, Performance boost.

How so? Initial tests have them neck and neck. Some results ATI wins, some Nvidia wins.
__________________Also price point could be a big factor here. ATI has not reduced the price on the 4870X2 1 penny since its release. Look what nvidia had to do to the 260 and 280's to stay afloat. If the GTX295 has a clear advantage, all ATI has to do is reduce the cost of their card (and drop the 4850X2 accordingly). That should keep them in control of market share.

You are aware that the GTX295 is essentially a pair of GTX260's on the same PCB? I own a pair of GTX260 216 Cores in SLI on one of my systems. They are roughly in the same ballpark as the X2.

Prices in Canada:
obviously there's newegg sorted by price: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...nd&Order=PRICE From which the Sapphire is the cheapest at $598.19 At directcanada.com (I built my computer there last year, no problems except a DOA motherboard which wasn't a problem to RMA at all) there aren't many options left in stock, they do have this Powercolor card though: http://www.directcanada.com/products...6&vpn=AX4870X2 2GBD5-H&manufacture=POWERCOLOR $596.50 and depending on where you live there's no PST (7% at $600 is $42 saved, if that makes a difference) NCIX doesn't really have much. The do have one for $589.99, but that price requires a $60 mail in rebate, which is a pain. It's Diamond, by the way: http://ncix.com/products/index.php?s...acture=Diamond I think your best bet is either newegg or directcanada. I would probably get the Sapphire over the powercolor, but I haven't had to deal with either company, so I could be wrong. Quote:
