Default GTX 295 vs 4870 x2 in crysis

Let's talk about price to performance ratio

(I bought my 4870 because it has good
price to performance ratio)

Sure there's a bit less memory on the 295, but I don't think it's enough to cause any REAL problems.

What it comes down to is scalability. We all saw that an HD3870x2 paired with a HD3870, gave AMAZING results for it's cost. NVidia can't do the same type of pairing, ATI can.

The 295 is going to end up costing at least $100-$150 more than what you can pick up an HDD4870x2 for now a days ($480ish). Drop in an HD4870 1GiB for Tri-Fire, and you may even beat the price-performance ratio (Yes, it costs more, but it performs better, if we're lucky the math will show it)

EDIT: (Maff)

$370 * 2 = $740 SLI set up right? Let's cut off $40 to make it an easier number, and for the fact that there is less memory.

GTX 295 possible MSRP, $700. If it's lower, then good, it should be. Realistically I expect it to sell for $650, so let's go with that.

And HD4870x2 is still $480.

700/480 = 1.45833333...

Call it 1.45? Sure. The 295 needs to be 45% faster than the HD4870x2 for it to be on the same price/performance ratio.

Need to fix the thread title to 295. Looks like a pretty good card. Just needs some decent drivers.

HAHAHAHHAAHHAAA.......

An ATI Card doing better than Nvidia's latest creation in Crysis?

Dream on Folks.... 2GB of memory isn't going to make the 4870X2 fly ahead of Nvidia in games. Especially this one.

Obviously there's a driver problem when the minimum FPS is lower than that of the GTX260.
