HD4830 bios/pencil voltmod and results UPDATED - Overclock.net

ok so i just got this Sapphire HD4830 the other day and the first thing i do is OC it and i get to about 735 core before it starts artifacting and 995 mem before that starts causing errors

so i did some reasearch and there seems to be a lot of info on 4850/70 bios voltmods but not much on 4830s so i went to tech powerup and got the RBE editor and sure enough the 4830 had bios adjustable voltages as well so i cranked them all the way up (which is 1.158 by the editor) and crossed my fingers

well it booted and i started ocing again and this time it went all the way past 800 core!!!!! thats awesome IMO for about 2 hours of reasearch and tinkering

heres a screenie of the results and i was starting to stress it with ATITool and its been about 10 min so far and were still running good

Anyone with a 4830 post your highest OC's and if you need any info on modding the bios its super easy

i will be back later tonight with stock and OC 3dmark 06 runs

Impressive clocks, those temps are pretty good too for a stock cooler. What's the fanspeed set to? Hope you don't have hair drier noise levels to achieve this (aftermarket cooler if you do).

ok so at stock i get 10655 in 3dmark 06 and thats with the cpu at 3.5 (500x7)
and at 770/1060 (fastest i could get 3d mark not to crash even though 800 was stable in atitool) i get 12942 i thought it would be a little higher but hey im happy

anyone with a 4830 whats your 3dmark 06 score

Wow, that's a really good OC.

I got 690mhz core clock and 1190mhz on memory clock on stock cooler. I'd raise it higher but my temps reach about 68 degrees under load, I reached about 58 with no stock clocks. I got an increase of about 5-10 fps with my overclock.

ok update

by bumping the pci-e frequency to 110 i have achieved 13174 3dmarks

thats 5539 on sm2.0 and 6371 on sm3.0

and according to this review

At those clocks it will beat a 4850. Thats really good and image if you can voltmod you would probably get 900Mhz core

it is voltmodded from the stock of 1.044 to 1.158 which is the max this card will allow

Very nice, my overclock is 675/950 atm lol. I can go higher without artifacts but I get the "atikmdag" driver error

Do you get that?
