Default ATI crossfire with 4870 1GB and 4850 512 MB

So I was planning on getting a P45-U3DP board and another video card.

I was gonna pop my current 4850 into the x8 slot and put a high end 4870 1GB card in the x16 slot.

How much of an increase would I see?

If I opt instead for dual 4850 512 MB, how much of an increase would I see?

if you run crossfire on that board, both slots will be x8 slots.

its probably a better choice to just get another 4850 unless you plan on replacing your current 4850 with a more powerful card later (dual or tri 4870's)

both cards will be 8x PCIe 2.0 for each card, so the slot will not bottleneck either card, but for the sole reason that performance you would get from the two would be very similar to if you get another 4850

as it is the limiting factor for each job they have to do.

The 4870 will downclock to meet the 4850's clocks so basically, you will have 2 4850's except one will have ddr5. Just get yourself another 4850 .

in the end, just a get another HD 4850.
and i wouldn't get another card to crossfire unless you have a bigger display that supports a larger resolution.
