Hi guys, I've got the HIS flower cooler flavour of this card running at stock. Just a quick question before I get to OCing it. Will it consume more power? My 400w is probably enough in any case, but I'd still like to know.

Sensors read ~35C idle. Is this normal?

Default What do you all think of these?

Hey 4830 club,

I'm in the process of building my new system and want to get two 4830s to crossfire. I found this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127402

It's the "MSI R4830-T2D1G OC Radeon HD 4830 1GB". That's a 1gb 4830 with a custom MSI cooler. I've read a review which said the 512mb version of this card overclocked great and was a lot cooler.

Now, that MSI 1gb card retails for about $150 on newegg. But, I found it the other day with 10 instant and $30 instant saving so it actually ends up being about $110.

That's ~$220 for 2 1gb 4830s. I'm thinking with the high overclocking potential + 1gb of RAM on each card they should be pretty awesome.

Anyone have experience with this card? What do you all think, is there a better solution for the money I am looking to spend.

Thanks.
SCTechie.

I hope your running a 64bit os. because that 2gb or vram will take away from your available ram on the mobo.

Yeah I am going to be running 64bit Vista, at least until Win7 is released.

I'm more concerned that this is the only card (4830s) I've seen with 1gb of RAM.

That seems like a crazy deal to me, 1gb 4830 for ~110. Just hoping somewhere here might have some experience with it.

It's an i7 system. If I had infinite money I would just get a 4870x2 but I don't. However, a CF 1gb 4830 setup seems killer to me, especially after I overclock it.

What's going to be your monitor resolution? I don't think you would need 1gb for anything below 1920x1280, I might be wrong though. Glad to see another one sporting 4830, they're really awesome. I'll be updating my clocks soon. Upping my memory clocks 4mhz at a time with rivatuner and then testing 10-20 minutes with atitool :P

so far no one in the club has the 1 g version. really the 1 g version are usually only used if his reses are involved. 1900*1200 and above. i seen a few vga cards score less cause of the extra ram over the 512mb versions.

Whilst I'm generally not a fan of dual GPU, you've found an absolute bargain there, I say go for it. 1GB cards is damn near essential for a setup like that as it starts to make a difference at higher resolutions, precisely the same conditions where Crossfire setups flourish.

Hey Guys,

I will be primarily gaming on a 24inch LCD I plan to buy.

However, I also have a 1080p Samsung TV 50inch with HDMI etc, which is why I want the 1gb RAM. I will be gaming in high resolution with AA/AF.

Can't wait to get this thing built. I'll be ordering these tonight to make sure I don't lose out on the rebates cause as a guy above said, $110 for a 1gb 4830 seems like a killer price.

Will update when I get them / the system is built.
