Have you ever tried to overclock a CPU on the stock cooler without increasing the voltage?

Sort of works like that :P (Simply put, higher clocks require more power.. and higher voltage provides that power)

Experimenting w/ AF in Crysis is fun. I had to change my GPU clocks to 765MHz/1055MHz (noticed some texture checkerboarding on one of my GPU stress tests, not good).. not all bad though, the higher memory clock is good w/ AF :-)

Getting 31.2~FPS in the Crysis GPU Benchmark with 8xAF! Pretty damn good if you ask me.. only a 3FPS drop!

just went out and bought it today after seeing just how awesome this thing is clock for clock compared to a 4850 plus i managed to get this card for around $80 cheaper than its brother 4850 card with same cooling

currently overclocking it thats what im testing at now but i may have to drop the memory and up the GPU core dunno yet only had it about 5 hours
add, welcome to the club. you hold the ram speed mark for now.

not bad i picked this one up for $179 AUD the cheapest 1gb sapphire version is $225 not including shipping which is close to a no name generic reference 4850 512mb which isnt worth it imo with how awesome this is for the price with the awesome after market cooling, i have no issues with dropping AA down a notch or whatever to keep the framerates up if i have to from not having that extra memory in games like Far Cry 2 etc

plus the thought of being able to pick up another one of these cheaply around or under $100 after the 58XX series is out to crossfire is a VERY nice thought

I honestly am having a hard time figuring out what part of my OC is unstable, lol.

With 768 core & 1050 mem, I (sometimes) get checkerboarding in Audiosurf. This seems to go away at 1045 memory. I'm under the impression that it gets worse at 1055.

With 770 core & 1045 mem, I (sometimes, even less so than the checkerboarding) get texture flickering, where the textures kind of.. jump to the right. Only seems to happen with text.

This is all with max. AA and AF in Audiosurf. Doesn't happen in other games (well, the checkerboarding happened in Crysis -once- at 1050 mem with 8xAF..)

770/1050 was perfectly stable.. until I started adding AF to Crysis. Then I noticed checkerboarding, which made me sad.

Edit: It seems the checkerboarding was caused by my memory clock..

Graphical glitches for me seem to mean too high memory clock, and crashes mean too high core clock.

Testing it at 770/1042 atm. If it's not stable in Crysis it's a worthless overclock as far as I'm concerned, lol.

anyone having a problem overclocking the memory other then me? I cant seem to get it past 950 without getting artifacts and some green checkerbox stuff in HL2 and other games. The core clocks pretty decently though, reached 690 without bios mod, and 740 with bios mod.
