This thread is related to
http://www.overclock.net/ati/465032-...ossfire-2.html

I made this to make it cleaner and easier to display the results when we have them.

!Conclusion!
MORE SP'S (stream processors) = win! pew pew
J/k... we will have one soon. This is more about price/performance as well as the issues that you will inherit from whatever setup you choose.

One thing that you need to be aware of if you choose to do any multi gpu setup and compare it to a powerful single card is that your min fps will end up lower then the single cards sometimes but higher in the max fps. This is why when you look at reviews do NOT only look at max fps or even Average fps. You should be concerned with the MIN.

Take a look at the furmark tests for example.
2x4830 max: 50
2x4850 max: 52
4870 max: 48.

The 2x4830 wins in max fps against the 4870, but in min fps it has 14 and the 4870 has 25 for min. With the solid OC that the 4830 can do, the min fps could be raised up though.
The 2x4850's only beat the 4870 in min fps by 2 fps compared to the 4870 beating the 2x4830's by 11 in min fps. The 4890 (new to this thread) beats out 4850 cf at stock by 2 fps in max, and 2 for min.
See if it happens in some other benchmarks/games.

The tests wont be 100% accurate because off different systems (only identical CPU's dont cut it) but close enough for me, i cant wait for the results.

Q6700 is the same except for the higher multiplier right?

We have fairly identical systems. I will be doing a fresh reformat for mine, I don't know if the others will do it for theres.

We all have 4 gb of ddr2 ram.
we all have asus boards.

It's pretty close.... And my water cooling won't give me an advantage since I'm keeping my cpu at 3.6ghz for the test.

What what the Quad be running? 450*8 or 400*9. Also we should keep same ram timing. I can do 400Mhz 4-4-4-12 or 450Mhz 5-5-5-15.

400*9 sound good for you? If it's good for both you guys we will do that, otherwise I can do 450*8 I think.

533 5-5-5-15 ?

edit: btw, i think 3.6ghz is the best since that is what I commonly see people get out of there q6600. It would help people decide on a card/cards better.
