Using two different cards in no crossfire?
What I`m thinking is, using my old X700pro in my second PCIe slot to run my 17 inch monitor, while using my 4870 to run my 22". Reason being, I figure that, since I only have the 512mb version of the 4870, my second display, even though it usually just a web page or CCC, that its bringing down my performance. I don`t want to get rid of my second display, so I'm hoping this would work.

First off, you should only bump your threads after 24 hours of inactivity. Just FYI.

I think that would work just fine. I don't think it could hurt anything to try either. You ought to just do it and see what happens.

Ah, my bad, I'll remember for next time. And okie dokie, I'll update in a few after i see what happens


edit: seems to work. However, in order to move my mouse to both screens, I have to enable my small monitor on the x700 as my primary monitor. If its on the 4870, I can display things on the x700 but cant move my mouse to it. hmm.. back to tweaking around in CCC

double edit: got it working. apparently i can make it so my monitors arent in a line on my desk, but also on top of eachother o.0.

MUCH better. I was pulling around 40 Fps on average in WoW now I go no lower then 70. IN L4D i pulled around 50 on average, up to 90 now. Catalyst needs a bit of tweaking as far as my 3D options go, but so far so good!
