You can run each card at whatever speed they can reach.

I CF'd a 4870/50 together results were not bad at all, results here.

Oh yeah

I'd sell the card, put the $ toward another 4870.
The fact that CrossfireX works with miss-matched cards and DOESN'T scale them down is exactly what ATI has been doing since they upgraded from Crossfire to CrossfireX (Example being integrated AMD graphics with an ATI card). SLI does not do this. You are confused.

Listen to Grunion. Thanks for the clarification.

EDIT: And why did you ask for proof? 4k 3dmarks isnt enough?

I think ATI says crossfiring a better and a lesser card together always equals the performance of the lesser crossfired.

Once again, SLI. If CrossfireX were like that all the people with crossfireX with an integrated card would still perform horribly.

exactly. the link in my previous post will justify this.

but of course xfiring with the same model is always the best. the point is, xfiring them both will give him the performance of a 4830 xfired w/c is still significantly faster than a single 4870

If you're talking about hybrid, it works totally different than Crossfire. Just looking ATI' website it dumbs down how they both work but specifically states they work differently.

OMG i just got called silly by an admin LOL

but heres a bit of bad news the card has to be rma'd right and sapphire freakin charges 15 dollars + shipping to rma the card so he took 15 dollars off the price

oh well i think ill sell it anyway as 4870s will be getting rather cheap soon and honestly i dont want to deal with sapphire if they are like this

so unless theres an excellent reason to keep this card its sold

it'd be great, just make sure you clock the 4830 to 700/1100 and you'll be fine.

If the guy will buy your 4830 at the same price you bought it, sell it!lol didn't you almost f*** up that 4830? with the money you can save it to buy a 4870 later, or 4850. Heck if you want, a BRAND NEW 4830 again.lol
