if your gonna be using the new card for the Pentium D system, i would only get a 4670 the most. 4830 would get bottlenecked

Wait for the 4770. Its 40nm core so less power consuption and its faster than the 4830(or should be)

You can get 4830's for stupid cheap, they also OC slightly better than the 4850 IMO because I think ATI disables the worst shaders on the 4830's leaving only the best shaders for OC'ing (just speculation but a good explanation IMO)

NO NO NO for the 4830. Framerate isn't everything; in visual quality, it's completely trumped by the 4850 and 9800 GT, which are both only a little more than $100.

well u can get a 4830 for $75 which is $25 @ least cheaper, but the main reason i like it, is b/c you can crossfire for cheap and it outdoes a 4870 by like a fps or 2

It's the same exact core as the 4850/4870 but with lower clocks and 640sp instead of 800. How could it have lower visual quality? I've owned four different 4870's, three 4850's, and now this 4830 and the only difference I've seen is framerate, visual quality has been identical for all of them. Also, I've owned the 9800GT and an OC'ed 4830 is a superior card, both in framerate and visual quality. edit: The only possible explanation I could come up with is that you had driver issues; I am having occasional rendering issues using the 4830 with the 9.2's and 9.3's, but switching to 9.1 solved that instantly. My 4870 plays fine with both.

Can't go wrong with a ATI RADION 9700 Pro 8 Pixal pipelines 256 bit memory buss with fast DDR memory WHEW and they should be around 20 bucks now and support the fast AGP 8x standard.
