Correct. At least that is what i keep getting told. cfx with a 4830 and 4870 is faster than cfx with 2 4830's. Just search it out. And mkosem has a link to hardware canucks talking about it.

Check this out. http://ati.amd.com/technology/crossfire/charts.html

Ati chart says it will work.

the previous link says It will be faster than a two 4830's in crossfire. ( the 4870 and 4830 setup ).

Because in the hardware canuck link it shows the 4870/4850 crossfire setup getting better benches than the 4850/4850 crossfire set up. Which would mean that a 4870/4830 setup is faster than a 4830/4830 setup.

Just look at the chart really closely. And look at the Legend. It almost fooled me.

Ati says it wont work.

Which is weird because the previous link say they got a 4870 and a 4850 to crossfire...

But the chart says its not compatible.

Maybe the 4870 and 4830 will work.

But your guaranteed if it does work. It will be faster than a two 4830's in crossfire. ( 4870 and 4830 ).

Because in the hardware canuck link it shows the 4870/4850 crossfire setup getting better benches than the 4850/4850 crossfire set up. Which would mean that a 4870/4830 setup is faster than a 4830/4830 setup.
it seems to say that any 48xx series will crossfire with any other 48xx card though its recommended to have similar gpu cards.

The price of 4890's is ridiculous. A 4870X2 performs almost as greatly as the 4890 in benchmarks (3DMark06). What's the point in paying so much extra cash?

4870 x2's cost almost twice as much as a 4890 and the 4870 x2 is a better card.........
