Default When the 4890 comes out...

Will it be priced really high, or will 4870 prices drop. If the 4870 Vapor-X 2GB version drops below $200 sometime, I'm probably going to pick one up.

I don't know but I'm this close |-- --| to getting either one.

I actually want a pair but man that's a lot of cash.

Alright, I have another, sort of related question. Which do you think would be better, buying another 4830 now, or waiting a few months and getting a 4870 Vapor-X, and then eventually having 2 of those.

In the end its up to you. If you don't want to wait a second 4830 would serve you well. From what I've seen a pair of those is up to par with a 260 and better then a 4870 by itself.

The thing that keeps me from going that route is the simple fact that I already have to many cards to begin with. I own

9600gso
8800gts
8800gs
8800gs

As you can see I don't have any bleeding edge cards there so I really don't want to be stuck with another set of cards that were never high end to begin with (4830). Your case may be different. Since you already have a 4830 a second one for crossfire might actually be a smart investment (prolonging your first investment)

Can you even run crossfire on a 750i chipset?

I gave in since I heard the 4890 is going to be at least $250, so I grabbed the 4870 last week and I'm loving it! Really everything plays perfect at 1080P so no point to go higher yet for me.

I did the same thing. I got the HIS 1g 4870 for 169. Cant beat it, although its rather ugly. But i keep good temps.
