Yes they will work, although the 4850 will downclock itself to 4830 speeds.

Yes it will work. Just that the 4850's core clock will go down to 4830 speed. Just overclock them and you'll be fine.

except a 4830 has less SPs than a 4850, so just OCing wont make em even. I see you already have a 4850, you can another 4850 for $100 used on here or open box on newegg all the time, dont cheap out and get a 4830 if you already have a 4850 you want to CF.

yes. but it's gonna be like 2 4830s in crossfire.

but like what others said, just oc the 4830 with the speeds of the 4850 to make it running like 4850 in crossfire. though the 4830 has lesser sps, the 4850 is just 5% faster clock for clock so you won't notice any difference at all

Potential customer: What is the meaning of life?
nVidia representative: PhysX, as seen in next-gen games like Batman:Arkham Asylum, PhysX makes your g200 based card BETTER than the 58XX series in all aspects. You'd be an idiot to buy ATI when you'd be forfeiting physX

Don't waste your time, get 2x4850 and you won't regret it.

Back to OT, you can make them work together, but won't be as beneficial as a 4850 cf

The 4850 won't downclock, you're thinking of SLI. Performance should be somewhere between 4850CF and 4830CF performance. Check out this article, which covers mixed crossfire scaling: http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum...ce-review.html

Why do people always think that my performance is better than two 4850's
