I just had a very scary experience:
I was messing with my RAM timings (as us OCers are wont to do) and I set my 1066 RAM at 800mhz 3-3-3-12 at 1.9 volts (lol the voltage was an accident and I'd heard that these timings worked with my RAM) When I saved the BIOS, my computer powered on but would not POST. I opened up my computer and my brand new 4890 Toxic was doing the "3 blinking lights of death." I tried a lot of things to get it going again, including re-seating my RAM, the 4890 itself, booting with a RAGE 128 (best card of that era IMO) in the PCI slot to see if my mobo worked, etc, all to no avail... It was then that I realized that I had forgotten to reset the CMOS, which was why I opened the case in the first place!

It was the top dog right after the 4890 came out. It was the highest clock out there when I got it. Just doesn't seem to clock the core very well. Once my Toxic shows up, I'm going to try to get them both to 1GHz Core and 1150 Memory.

I'm having some trouble OCing my Sapphire VaporX 4890 . . . I can only get 935 core 1124 memory clocks without it going over 90 degrees C and artifacts in furmark. Any higher and my temps are creeping past 90 degrees and i start to artifact. I've seen a lot of people reach higher clocks with reference cards, and I bought this card with the hopes of hitting or at least getting close to 1000/1200. Thus far I'm pretty dissapointed. At least my games run on max though.

I've got a Cooler Master Storm Scout case with really good airflow and little dust (I've only had it for a month thus far). However, when I try to OC it I have the side cover off. I just ordered a CM 120mm fan to mount on the side of the case right next to the expansion slots to help move the hot air out from the GPU and PSU (even though the PSU fan is mounted rightside up on the bottom of the case and pushes air out from underneath, heat still rises and can linger in the expansion slots). I've been working for the past three days to OC my CPU (issues with the Ram) and I've just been pretty dissapointed up until now with the luck I've been getting with the OC ability of my CPU and GPU.
