I just need to know how overclocking certain things like memory or core can effect gaming. What can and should I overclock I don't know what overclocking the memory or cores does. Sorry I sound like a total noob I need to learn so I can get a decent overclock out of these babies. To anyone that owns these cards how far can I expect to oc them.

Oh btw my sig rig is gonna be given to my dad I'm in the process of putting an i rig together so these cards will sit in EVGA X58 mobo with i7 920 and powered by a Corsair 1000w PSU. Thanks in advance.
My XFX XT clocks to about 940 on stock voltage. Overclocking the cards is very easy. Download and install the CCC 9.6 drivers and go into CCC > ati overdrive > slide the slider up for both cards to the clock that you would like. You can do the same for the memory. It should go up to about ~1100.
You will see a bigger improvement in performance by taking up the core speed than the memory speed.

Couple = 2.
I'm getting the 100000ea BSOD. Am I clocked too high? My temps never break 70 in Furmark stability, gaming or F@H. But I am getting BSODs in Furmark and games. I'll scale back my clock to 950 and see if that works. Or increase voltage maybe and keep 970.

Thanks. How do you recommend I oc them, should i just slide up all the sliders to the desired clock and run 3dmark or should I do one at a time and check for stability and do I have to oc my cards on at a time or is there a feature that lets you oc both of them together? Would a succesful 3dmark validate a stable overclock or should i run something else?

Yea I got 2 for $280 from someone on a forum and they're both covered by the lifetime warranty.

I would slide them each up 20 mhz at a time. Run furmark on a somewhat low (1280x1024) resolution in stablility test mode for ~10 minutes. if no artifacts appear or your system doesnt restart, you can move them up again and repeat.

How do these scores look guys? This is 2x 4890's at 940mhz cores on the system in my sig. I thought I would be able to do better in crysis....

Lowering my core from 970 to 950 fixed all BSOD issues. Now I hope I didn't damage my card by having it at 970 for a few days. I can Furmark at 1680x1050, 8xMSAA with the stability test and the burn-test enable at under 70C.
