Here is the link to the HIS website to one of their 4890s stating 500W should be good enough.. but to be sure I would go higher, just in case.

Hey Guys

I'm planning on getting a HD4890 and crossfire it with my 4870 or maybe two to replace my HD4870 .

But i would like to know the expected range of watts used by a single HD4890 and also the wattage used by Dual(two/2) Hd4890s in Crossfire, I will be getting one of these to power my graphics cards

{Presently i like the 450 as it takes up less space and is still pretty powerful, IT WILL ONLY BE USED FOR POWER THE GRAPHICS CARDS)

The 450W will not power up a single 4890 let alone two of them... the 650 should be enough to do two 4890s in CF config..

Edit: just saw that you were using the one PSU to power the cards only... well 450 will do it.. just make sure the PSU has right amount of PCI-E connectors though.. 2 PCI-E's for each 4890

I would but the 4870 is 512mb, so would be wasting 1GB on the 4890. Just going to sell the 4870 and either keep it at that or use the $$ for another 4890.

So I'm pretty sure my HD 4890 is underperforming.

Running 3DMarkVantage on the High preset at 1680x1050 it scored 6606 while my CPU scored 10355

GPU/CPU Stats:http://i43.tinypic.com/2s7xs3p.jpg (running 9.5 drivers now)

PSU: 520W Corsair HX Series Modular PSU

OS: Vista 64

Is that normal? is that what I should expect?

well you should really think about giving the cpu some more mhz. Try it on the normal preset and report back.

With the Performance Preset at 1280 x1024 the score was:

P10254, GPU: 10278 CPU Score: 10181

That seems more up to other people's scores, is this what I should be expecting?
