Wait till DX11 GPU's and then decide. More so since more price drops should come with them.

And they'll probably be as long lasting as the first DX 10 GPU's (8800GTX/Ultra) or the first DX9 GPUs (Radeon 9800Xt)
More like, "wait 'til DX11 games hit the market..." -- which won't be 'til some time 2010.

OP, I say you add another 4850 and reap the benefits of having a fast-ass setup.

Nah, I early adopted DX9 cards, and my 9800Xt was a champ for so long. Only issues I had was Quake 3, but that was solved with OpenGL mode.
And that was Quake 3's issue, not the card.

And my brother picked up a 8800GTX when it first came out. Still a tank, he went with that on a Pentium D setup (we were fooled by Intel's marketing, :\, as I had Pentium 4 from a 1700+ T-bird)

But it was good either way.

Though, only time will show if my prediction will come true. It feels more to me that the first gen of the new DX stuff runs hot, and is kinda power hungry, but by the time the perfect it, a new DX is just around the corner, and it's only marginally more powerful.

Yes you will because it will break about 3-6 months after you buy it. Many many peoples have crapped out including mine. I never OC it and never touched it, one day games started crashing and now I am in the middle of and RMA. To top it off Sapphire makes you pay to ship it to them and for them to ship it back to you . So if you ever have to RMA and you will it is just a matter of time, then it will cost you at least 30.00 to RMA that damn thing. I say get the 4850 and crossfire it. It will save you from having to spend 250.00 on a 4890, and it will perform slightly better. Not a whole lot better but still it is better performance in Xfire. On the other hand if you really want the X2 I will sell you my RMA when I get it in the mail 250.00 it is yours shipped. I paid 320.00 and I have the invoice and I will send that to the buyer as well.

Definitely not something I want to deal with honestly. To me, stability is a higher priority than the performance.

Look; 4770 is fabricated with 40nm process. Which means it consumes less power and dissipates less heat. It also means it overclocks like a beast
Put them in crossfire, and they slaughter a 4890 at stock. And THEN there's the overclockability
And they are priced at $110 a card, too

Not sure if your PSU will handle 2 4850s... I do know it will be able to handle the 4890.

If you are planning on getting the second 4850 be prepared to think about getting a newer more powerful PSU for it...

Suggestion... get a more powerful PSU for your quad set up...the 650 watts PSUs aren't too much in price.. transfer the 520 to your dual core system.. and buy either the following for graphics card(depending on your budget that is).. either get a 4890 or get a 4850X2 for the main set up and either transfer the single 4850 to your dual core set up... or if you are itching for some trifire love...you will DEFINITLY need a PSU higher than 650watt(aka more money)

Just a suggestion mind you
