Ok, I've had this card for 3 months. When I first started using it it would crash/glitch and carry on. I found the fix with a manual fan speed adjustment. 30% was a good medium between howling and decent temps.
Anyway, about 2 weeks ago I noticed in CPUz that the Link Width was 8x instead of 16x. I thought it might have just throttled itself back (Because they're getting smarter and smarter nowdays) and thought nothing of it. This morning, after doing some CPU overclocking, I noticed CPUz is now reading 1x instead of 16x. I've updated my bios to the latest Beta, and updated ATI drivers. I've also reset my bios settings back to defaults. Still, it's not a happy cookie. Any ideas? Is this a faulty card? Tomorrow I'll whack a 8600GT in and see what the link speeds are, but at the moment it has me pondering... Thanks guys. Edit: I also fold on this rig 24/7.

Open GPUz and see what that says, CPUz might be making a mistake there.

With the original bios I had the same problem, so I updated to the next stable release - Same problem. Then I went with the beta - same problem.
GPUz reads the same. 1x.

Is there anything in your BIOS that would pertain to this, under PCI-E settings?

Consider the Motherboard in your decisions, as well. It is the one controlling the bus, after all.

Try reseating it in the other PCI-E slot, too.
