Bump.

Looks like I might be limited to the 4890 due to budget constraints anyway :/

Perhaps that will change however.

Also, after seeing a 4850X2 w/ a tape measure on it, I believe it would fit, however w/ little additional clearance.

You'll be satisfied by the 4890 no doubt. Even the baseline cards can achieve 1GHz Core with a Voltage Bump

having "had" a 4850x2 and now multiple 4890's....go w/ the single 4890

much happier, never had issues w/ the 4850, but it was HUGE and just never gave me a "jaw dropping" experience personally

I had to make this choice when I built my sig rig, and I decided the 4890 was a better choice, mainly for expandability. You say you can't crossfire right now, but are likely upgrading in a month (I think you said) to a board that is capable of crossfire. If you've got the room to crossfire in the future, the 4890 is certainly a better choice, because tri-fire scaling really leaves something to be desired. The 4890 also offers more "stable" framerates, with the fluctuation between minimum and maximum fps lower than that of the 4850x2.

To sum things up, 4850x2 has more raw power, but can provide big leaps between min and max fps, while the 4890 (with potential to crossfire in the future and blow away the 4850x2) offers more stable framerates, albeit lower in most cases, with less power and heat.

JUST Ordered XFX 4890 XT off of TD for $211 shipped(keep in mind most places charge tax and/or don't or wouldn't accept paypal).

As long as the order goes through correctly I'm hoping to see it mid-late next week

+Reps to those who were truly constructive

edit: the reasoning behind getting the XFX 4890 was that 1. Money. 2. Simplicity and min FPS. 3. I want HAWX, bad. 4. double lifetime and vMod warranty. 5. Being able to buy new and through a mostly reputable retailer, and circumventing this PoS state's tax and finally 6. Length of card.

HD4890 and then you can CF one later on or something. 4890s are quiet too

What you do need to do is going to the Phenom II rig you have always dreamed of and get 2 HD4890 Toxics
