Default did my 4870 got broken? maxed it out in CCC

2 days ago i played with CCC for the first time...

first i manually controlled the fan.. via CCC.. got it to 40%... and then.. i never idled at high 70 Cs anymore!

then i decided to run crysis warhead.. played @ windowed mode..

i raised the fan up to 85% just to try it out.. then for 10 mins i played..

then i thought about overclocking it.. i slowly increased the GPU clock by 10s.. and then play around the alt+tabbed Crysis Warhead.. hoping to see artifacts but nothing happened.. i maxed it out eventually.. 790Mhz.. and same with the Memory Clock.. 1100Mhz i played for an hour on such a setting

the next day.. i tried benchmarking with Crysis benchmark tool.. then i get sudden fps drops at certain points..

example.. always.. on one area.. when i look at that are in 1st person mode (duh).. i get sudden fps drops.. (from 12-16 then suddenly ~3-6) then when i look to another area.. (Nomad was still standing still).. i get back to my normal FPS..

(DX 10 64bit, fullscreen, fsaa=2, all very high)

i dont remember this happening before tho..

my lowest fps before is somewhere around ~8 FPS but now dropped to even 2!

im gonna try again and see if its still like that..

tried less demanding than crysis games: assassins creed, fallout 3.. nothing negative that i could notice tho..

anyone had this similar prob? sorry to bother..

Would need to know your rig's specs, you can edit that in the user CP link @ the top of the page, other than that, it's crysis, it's supposed to lag.

I don't think it was CCC. I maxed it out and the GPU didn't even break a sweat. Check your processes and make sure that there isn't something running in the background that is killing it.

Anything "can" happen, but when I had my 4870, I was able to max it out, and then stress the crap out of it and it never went above 70c. If yours got really hot, then it may have damaged it, but I'm sure that you will find that it's software related.
