probably for running three or more cards.....but according to your motherboard's manual both cards need to be in the blue slots for X16 mode......i'm also thinking if this is a 32bit OS issue.....how much ram do you have?

This may be a silly question as I don't have crossfire, but I've got the M4A79T Deluxe which is the AM3 version of your board and there is are settings in the BIOS for the pci-e bus. Did you check or adjust those? I'm at work right now and can't verify what mine are, but I think these may have an effect on what you're talking about as well.

I use the 9.2CCC with the 9.4drivers to keep independent OC control of each GPU when in Xfire...I also had to flash my 2nd GPU with the BIOS from the 1st to get them to activate into Xfire [as out of box, they had 2x different BIOS, as seen using GPU-Z].

Since then, Xfire has treated me pretty good..just popped an E8400 in yesterday, and broke 21k with my sig'd setup.

I used the 9.6's with my setup. Installed the first card and drivers, the second card showed up a few days later, I plugged it in, the cat's detected it, and X fire seems to be working. Im only seeing marginal gains in 3dm06, and Crysis flaked out on me. I think my my xfx card doesnt clock as well as my MSI one, because I cant run benchies at 1ghz anymore.

You are probably having the same problem as me. See if second adapter is enabled.

Bios are the same. I had problems with windows7. Crossfire worked, both adapters enabled but I was having a problem with a game I play so back to Xp and same problem. There has to be a way to enable second adapter.

Maybe they need a bios update.

I will say 1 thing. Diamond my manufacturer blws. They work 9-5 california hours and no weekends. This is pretty much the hours that a lot of peeps work so forget phone tech support. I bought a EVGA GTX280 and they have 24/7 tech support. Diamond just does not get it. 2/3 of the population need support later and weekends. I will get in touch with the president of the company. I actually got in touch of the main dude of Nascar in New York one time. I am good at that.
