Default 4890 crossfire problems(Solved)

Hi

I had 1 4890 Graphics and had no problems. My specs are below and just got a second 4890 now x-fired and I have these problems:

Benchmarking 13,000 compared with 19,000 with 1 card
CPU scores went down drastically with other scores same or higher
Video LOCK in second test.

I wouldn't think I am bottlenecking with mu system and I have 850W PSU.

I am going to uninstall and reinstall drivers and I am using 8.62.

Ugggh, I ALWAYS HAVE PROBLRMS WITH ATI

Seem like many people I see that has 4 pci-e's on their mobo, has a problem with their crossfire. Your cpu is not bottlenecking (2) 4890's.

A few base questions:
-How did you install your cards and the drivers?
-Which pci-e slots are you using?
-Can you post gpu-z pics?

Cards are in 16x slots. I had 1 installed and just purchased another same brand and model but it looks like a diff batch but that shouldn't matter. I ran ATI uninstall utility, ran driver sweep and just re installed current drivers.

3dmark06 tests are = to 1 card on 1st 2 tests, cpu1 and cpu2 are unbelievably low, test 4 is unbelievable frame rates 40% increase and test 5 is = to 1 card.

Your crossfire looks good, don't see anything wrong there.

-In CCC, look under Graphics hardware, see if one cards is "primary adapter and the other one is "linked adapter."
-Leave you gpu-z up and check the box "log to file"
-run a bench or 3dmark test again
-after test, check log. See if the gpus up-clock themselves to normal 850 mhz while they were under load.

Last of the post, you may want to try cat 9.5 drivers. There are not many CF 4890 users around on the forum yet. I wonder are there some driver issues ATI have not worked out yet, with all of the OS's.

Damn, sorry to hear. I am still debating on picking up a 2nd XFX 4890 XXX edition or not. Hopefully you get this fixed, because I don't wanna spend another $220 for crappy performance lol. Are you using the most up to date drivers?

the only choice in graphics ADAPTER is t 1 card. Ahhhh it says Primary adapter and other says DISABLED ADAPTER.

In my device manager it shows both enabled and also in display manager on desktop.

Ok that explains a lot, looks like you are only running one card and both cards did not crossfire. Check the CF ribbon and try a driver change.

In device manager, it only shows that both cards are properly installed, not that they are crossfired.
