I was sick of my 4890 running so damn hot. So I decided to replace the TIM to get a lil drop in temps. I have my card at 1ghz gpu, 1100mhz mem 24/7 and I would idle at 59C on auto fan speed. After I replaced it I idle at 53C, so 6C drop in idle temps is nice. I have yet to test load temps, which I will do in a lil bit and post the results. Furmark would make my GPU hit 85C when I had stock TIM crap on, so I am hoping for it to be in the 70's now.
Enjoy the pics! Cooler after I took it off ![]() Here is the card with stock TIM. It is SO light without the cooler ![]() ![]() My lil cleaning buddies! ![]() Copper heatsink was nice and shiny after a lil scrub down ![]() You gotta love the shine! Cleaned off the gpu and took a pic up close.

I did this just yesterday. I didn't expect such high quality thermal pads. I replaced the gunk they call thermal grease with AS5.

Nice job! When I replaced the TIM on my 9600GT I only lost about 1-2*C.
