Default GPU Activity high when copying text, scrolling, viewing slideshows, moving windows.

GPU Activity high when copying text, scrolling, viewing slideshows, moving windows. Is this normal?

For example when I copy text GPU activity goes up to 70%, temps rise, fans spin faster.

Is this normal?

WIN XP SP3.

  1. I do not think my GPU needs to be 99% active or even 70% when viewing a website with 2-3 jpeg pictures scrolling. Nor when I am moving a window around. Nor when I am copying text in a chat window. There is no activity when it's just idle.
  2. A few people have told me this is normal. But I just wanted to ask here since you guys know more about these stuff.

This isn't normal.

I think you may have to RMA that card if you have the warranty or you need to clean it out of dust.

Thanks!

It's a pretty new card so I don't think there is any dust there. Just got it almost a week ago and it have had the same problem since day 1.

XFX HD4890

I have tried drivers from the CD and drivers from the ATi website.
I have tried different browsers, different applications.

If you get 0% with your cards it probably means yours are working fine. A lot of things are pointing to that my cards are defective but I want to be sure.
