These sorts of adaptors aren't active DisplayPort->DVI, despite what they might say. There are currently only three available, the Dell active adaptor, an identical BizRate branded one, and the Apple mini-DP to DVI active adaptor. It needs to be USB powered, or it doesn't work. The WSGF had a hell of a time with these supposedly 'active' adaptors...

For those outside of the US, finding true active adaptors are next to impossible. For those in the UK I'm working on persuading Scan that they should stock them, but we'll see what happens.

...

And those asking, yes, EyeFinity is exclusive to the 5000 series cards. Words straight from the mouth of the Product Manager of the 4000/5000 series himself - Dave Baumann. (Although they're not in that interview, they're written on various forums around the 'net...)

OK, My post didn't take. So I'll retype it.

Those Vids on Guru3d show tons of dropped frames. This looks like a colossal waste of money on the 5870. Maybe the 5970X2's will pull it off. Don't forget games will only get more demanding, If todays games are stressing this then it will be worthless soon.

I'd wait till at least the 5870X2's.

And I am most certainly waiting until DP is not mandatory. I refuse to put hardware DRM on my systems.

:edit:
Ohh and I left a comment over there.

Debating on a 3 monitor set up or getting a 30 inch monitor... i would probably save money for the 3 monitor setup i think...

Can i use a 30 inch and 2 21 inch monitors? Does it have to be the same monitor with the same resolution? Really like the idea of a 30 inch monitor running at 2560x1600.
