Default *Offical* ATI EyeFinity Info thread

With the arrival of the 5800 series comes the introduction of EyeFinity. Although most user's wont be using this feature, i believe that quite a few of us on OCN(including my self) will be at some point in the near future. I would like to use this thread to consolidate the EyeFinty information out on the net and provide it to all of OCN and Non OCN users that are considering Eyefinity! Please PM me or post new info about EyeFinity in this thread and ill update the OP with it.

READ THIS FIRST: you NEED atleast 1 displayport monitor to use eyefinity with 3+ monitors at the moment. this could change later on. More info here

yes, it takes multiple monitors and groups them together as one. you need atleast 1 monitor with a displayport though. that seems to be the only limitation

im working on updating the OP with links for different information. however the reason you need a displayport monitor is because you cannot use a $10 DP(displayport) to DVI adapter to make the third monitor work. It seems to be a technical issue. And even though there are 4 video connectors on the 5870/5850, you cannot use the 2 DVI and the 1 HDMI at the same time since the HDMI is shared with one of the DVI ports

Probably because the HDMI port and one of the DVIs share a connection. Displayport runs off another source.

(talking about the HD5870 reference here)

yea it is a pain in the ass right now, but looking at it the other way it is kind of good. At least there pushing DP out on the market to be used on more monitors. I see it as a good thing, and i think people just need to have some patients(something i don't have lol)

Its funny though cause if ati could just put there dp to dvi thingo in the card it would cost them like 0.0000001c and we dont have to pay 100 bucks.

anyways i am ordering 3 of these 2443bw+ im getting these cause they have a really small edge between them and they are flippable so i will have 3 portrait ones next to each other and my lil 15incher for my tv running of my 4850.

now to buy my 5870.......
