This has pretty much nothing to do with XFX. At this point, all the cards are reference. ATI ships it to the them, and they slap their stickers onto it.

Two cards fail of the same type from the same company. Two. Hmmmmm.

I call coincidence and foul play. We all know the only people who RMA things either 1) F***ed up, or 2) Want something to sell as new.

Speak for yourself. I simply need this $400 paper weight replaced ASAP, period. I didn't F anything up. Simply fired CoD4 up and started playing. And I PLAN to run another in CF eventually, soo...

While this may be common, I'd be careful who you accuse. I'd be surprised if Dia did anything wrong.

What where the temps of the card?

Where you monitoring its temps at all? where you aware of its fan speed?

Also, OP, sorry for your misfortune. It's not good to be XFX when this stuff happens. I will stop recommended XFX for ATI cards as well as there were so many issues with the 4890's as well. GL with the RMA. Hopefully they don't treat you like a child who has no idea what it is doing. I hate it when companies do that through RMA.

Didn't read the quote but still that wouldn't justify that i am "fanboy" because his statement doesn't make sense at all.

Being a fanboy of something is stupid you always want good competition better for consumer.

well he probally wasnt using msi afterburner cause punkbuster will kick you for that.

which sucks, so he may not have any any warning. however, his fan could have died or stopped spinning.

I wouldn't comment like that. Why would he post it on the forums if that was the case? I am sure it wont help him RMA the card.

At 900/1300MHz, I had the fan set at 45%, and it has been idling at a pretty consistent 28-30c. Under full load, the card would never exceed 65c.

Your Q. has been answered, guy.

And I won't be editing anything, thanks. You're wanting me to research what?

EDIT: Ahh ok, I see that a RECENT 9 hours ago the guy in the other "dead XFX 5870" thread reported he got his 5870 working. Yet it still crapped out for no reason, in the first place, and he's unaware as the reason why, SOOO.....
