Default WOOT! My ASUS 5870's arrived.

Hey all, I finally have something to smile about on this dreary, rainy day here. My 5870's arrived from Newegg. I was out to lunch and as I was leaving the UPS driver pulled up to the restaurant to make a deliver. I waited for him to come back out and asked if he was the driver for my area and he was, he unlocked the truck and bingo my box from newegg was on it. I rushed back to the office to snap some pics of the unboxing. Now all I have to do is wait until 5 so I can get off and go home to install these puppies. I swear its worse than being a kid on christmas eve. Enjoy the pics.

Awesome do some benchmarks please. I'd really like to see how these in CF perform on a similar core system like mine. I wonder if they will be bottlenecked by the 8x pcie slots on your mb. Also I can haz one of your Dirt 2 cupons?

Gotta love Asus. And, of course, newegg.com.

Ok after some crazy problems getting my rig running with these 5870's I finally got everything ironed out. For some reason when I uninstalled my 4870x2 drivers, then booted to safe mode and used driver sweeper I then powered down my computer, uninstalled the 4870x2 and installed just one 5870 as I wanted to do benches with 1 vs 2. My computer for some reason would not recognize my usb mouse and keyboard once it came to the windows 7 login screen. It took me a day to track down a ps/2 mouse and keyboard from the office. They worked, letting me login to windows and install the drivers. After benching with vantage I installed the second card and crossfired them, replugged my usb mouse and keyboard in and everything is working as normal now. Now for the bench results. The screenshot posted is with 2 cards in crossfire. My cpu and gpu are both at stock. Don't ask why I haven't OC my cpu yet, I've been busy and hope to get working on it this weekend.

Results: All results are 3dmark vantage scores at this time.

4870x2 l-l 5870 l-l 5870's CF
12079 l-l 12559 l-l 12514 l-l CPU Score
13283 l-l 14688 l-l 19116 l-l GPU Score
12960 l-l 14091 l-l 16888 l-l Total Score

I was suprised that the single 5870 scored better than the 4870x2 and a decent jump adding the second card. Will get back with more benches after I get some sleep.

Awesome, my UPS Driver would never do that for some reason.

I noted in the post that the cpu is at STOCK, hence 3.0, it hasn't been touched yet. I plan to do that in the coming days. And yes I know that is the bottleneck at the moment. I just wanted to post the initial results. I've only had this computer as a whole for a little over a month and 2 weeks of that has been waiting to get my raptor's back from WD rma. I finally got tired of waiting and installed the Intel ssd last friday. Give me some time and I'll get this thing cranked up and fully functional.
