We're not sure yet. Rename the executable to bioshock.exe and it works (apparently lol)

Well, try renaming it to ANYTHING. If it works, i dont believe it would work because you rename it to "bioshock", but because you RENAME it in general

Well bioshock and such use the same graphics engine. UE3.

Darn, renaming it to "bioshock.exe" didn't help. It just says "Game is unavailable" now when I try to run it. =/ Are you talking about the borderlands/binaries/borderlands.exe file?

I'm assuming you have the Steam version. If that is the case then you cannot rename the .exe file like those who have a retail version.

borderlands runs fine for me. using catalyst 9.10, 1080p, max options, most of the time it stays at 60fps. wish i could get it to anti-alias though, the jaggies are very distracting. tried forcing it in CCC but no luck.

Yep, you're right. I guess I have to wait for ATI (!!) to possibly fix things eventually. Oh well...

OK to bring this issue back into light. For those that have steam such as me, you CAN rename it IF (this is a gray area) you get a NOCD version of the .exe and just make a shortcut directly to that to launch.
__________________I did try that, however renaming it to Bioshock or UT3 did not help the performance at all. MY ONLY FIX is to REINSTALL the ATI drivers and not restart.

I have 4870x2 card and have the issue with this game. And this is the only game i have issues with. In past I had overheating problems and i changed the old fan and put a new accelero fan. Since then my temp doesn't go over 48oC and the noise is gone. But with this game i got the same problem (it looks like the gpu is overheating again) as i get bsod sumtimes, screen freeze few seconds, hdd locks.. I try everything i found on net (installed new drivers, installed fresh os - using Vista 64 @tm, installed riva, pushed fan from 60% to 80%, disable Ati power play, disable ati a.i., renamed game to bioshock,.... even go to system prop and set number of processor to 1 and memory to max) but still no solution for this. I even dwl the 9.11 beta drivers and still can't make it work prop. Well with this drivers I CAN play but i get, from time to time, sum screen lock for 5-6 sec... I just know that this game and ATI drivers don't go along. They need hotfix FAST!!! |
