Default a pair of 5770's or 5850's

G day, I was hoping that maybe you guys could help me out.
I am tossing up whether to get a pair of 5850's or the 5770's,how many frames on average could I expect to see with pair of 5770 in crysis (well in general ) at resolutions of 1600x 1050 and 1920x 1080.

I have a 23"w monitor is it even worth it for me to get the 5850's at all considering my max res is 1920x1080,I don't plan on getting a bigger monitor.

I do know the extra grunt of the 5850's would help but do I really need it ?.

Thanks guys in advance.

I would def trust that CF5850's would run it full everything in 1080p, hands down. but to back that up search for 5850 benchmarks @OCN

so you are talking about 2x 5850s? If you have the money I say go for it. Although I have read x2 5770s blow one 5870 out of the water! vcheez has a very good thread going on about his x2 5770s benchmarks

yeah I was planning on selling my shares to get them, but now they are taking a plummet so it's looking less likely for me to get a pair of 5850's.

Master Chief, what sort of FPS are you accustomed to with your pair ?.

Here is a decent review (not in english). Looks like alot of work went into it. No HD5850 information but alot of information for 2 HD5770s in Xfire.

http://ht4u.net/reviews/2009/amd_ati_radeon_hd5750/

I think 2 HD5770s in Xfire should be plenty of power to play most games.

If you want to do Xfire and don't need the massive raw power of 2 HD5850s in Xfire then 2 HD5770x in Xfire should be fine.

Or you could just get 1 HD5850 and probably enjoy many games as well.

You should see how they compare in the below reviews...

The bottom line is that 2 x 5770's beat or match the 5850 in every benchmark. However having 1 x 5850 gives you the option to upgrade later by adding another. I assume your board has only two slots, so if you go with the 5770's now and want to upgrade later then you will need to replace both cards.

if by going with x2 5770s how long do you expect them to be good for gaming until it becomes obsolete?

I don't know why the 5850's and the 5870's are not performing well in crossfire atm.
I hate to blame drivers but really that is the only thing that can be blamed I mean 5770's beating 5850's in CF, that just doesn't add up at all.
so I think the best bet would be to get 1 5850 for the time being (if you can find one), and later add another.
