Default Is my 5770 messing up mobos?

With my MSI k9a2 CF v2, my entire system would crash whenever I watched fullscreen video with my new HIS HD5770--within 10 seconds. I kept having to reset the CMOS or else it wouldn't boot anymore, and it got to the point where I could no longer boot up when I turned the power off (without resetting again).

I decided this was a good time to upgrade my mobo, so I got an ASUS M4A78T-E, and it seemed to play fullscreen video fine. But then this morning, my entire system hung again (after an hour or so this time), and now I can't get my computer to boot up anymore. I've tried swapping the battery, moving around jumpers, nothing is working! Is this video card of mine cursed?? What gives...

My hope is that waiting a while then trying again will make it work, but this is just beyond frustrating.

Sounds like a power supply issue to me. Your Antec 650W should be enough, but it could be having problems. Can you try with another one?

I considered the fact that it might be my PSU, except for the fact that everything worked perfectly with the new mobo until that fullscreen video session. I dunno, I guess it's a possibility.

Well, the video might've demanded a tad more power than the PSU could handle.

I doubt it, the 5770 uses next to no power.

Plus, it crashed when I was watching YouTube videos haha...

I mean, a lot of people have issues with these new cards and drivers (while watching fullscreen videos, big mouse cursors happen out of nowhere, atikmdag errors)...I just never imagined it would mess up the entire system somehow. Either way, I'll try a different PSU for now and see what happens.

Have you tried watching HD fullscreen videos online? For some reason, EVERYthing else worked fine...benchmarks, games, Furmark...but videos would screw me over.

I just tried a 500w PSU that I know for sure is working, and it doesn't boot. I hear the same throttling sound of the fan, and nothing shows on the display. I think I've isolated it to the 4-pin connector on the board, not sure what that means though.
