Default Should I upgrade cpu or gpu?

I didn't know where to post this sorry if this is the wrong place...

So I've got some birthday money left ($130). My problem is that I have a dell inspiron 537mt (Intel celeron 450, 2gb of ram, intel gma 4500hd, windows 7 64 bit) I want to upgrade it... I use this computer for gaming and HD movies. I've been looking through parts for the past week and I've come down to the following choices.

Intel pentium e6500 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819116093

or

HIS H467QS1GH http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814161287

If I upgrade graphics than I'm pretty sure I would have to upgrade my PSU which I think is 300 watts... I'll open my case later to verify. Anyways what should I do upgrade graphics or processor? I was even thinking getting a celeron e3200 and using the extra money to buy a cheap graphics alternative. Thanks in advance =D

To be honest, that computer really isnt worth upgrading, if you upgrade one thing, you would need to upgrade the whole thing all together.
My advise, start saving up for a new build.

I would agree; at this point I think it's better to save up for a new build. You can get an e7400 build with decent OC headroom and a 9800GT through these forums for about $400 for the PC.

I agree with all the above.

I had a HP Pentium 4 Duo previous to my new build. You are really limited in what you can do with OEM builds.

Plan, save and reap the joy when you are able to build your dream rig

Yeah I know that the computer isn't worth it but I'm buying the parts now as I do plan on building a new computer in a couple months. I'm also going to change out the motherboard and ram on this in a month or so for my brother who needs a computer.

Instead of getting the e6500 shoulf I get the e7400?
I was thinking I was getting a better deal from the 6500 since it has VT

Agreed, just make sure You make the PC yourself and don't get a Dell or something!

Can you tell us what you are going to use your rig for? Gaming, folding, video processing, net surfing??? Enquiring minds need to know

That will give us an idea on what is best suited to your needs.

There is no point buying parts individually for a future build when we are at a time when all the computer parts are changing over to the next generation. There are new CPUs coming out (Core i9), new GPUS (Fermi and 5900 series ATI), and DDR3 is becoming considerably cheaper in comparison to DDR2. Also, hopefully within the next couple of months, SSDs will have a serious drop in price from what they are now.

This is very close to the worst time you can be upgrading your ancient hardware with old hardware (waiting 1-2months would be the worst).
