One reason that would support it as a shortage is...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102856 Already a Customer's choice award winner... That was freaking quick. and that is Just sapphire, and that is just Newegg. imagine the other manufacturers and the other websites as well.

Somehow, I don't see ATI trying to become the next Nintendo. It's just not profitable, and ATI is in no financial position to be playing games with the market.
__________________I'm just curious about ATI's plans regarding debt management. I'll be very interested in the company if they've got running plans to downsize their debt....

Yes, I think there is an actual shortage. Demand is high, yields, and hence supply is likely poor.
__________________I'm on my second 5850 atm (different brands, different purchase dates, both $259.99), so they are available if you look for them.
