Default poor l4d1 performance radeon 4850

Well I also had a problem with cod4. i set my vsync off in cod4 and I was in a empty server and looking arround and my fps just dropped to 90 instead 125. i was a bit looking arround in the settings and I turned water detail to low instead medium and then! 125 fps constantly in every map without a problem.

Now I was looking arround in left 4 dead nothing happened on the screen an my fps dropped to 50/40 instead of 60(vsync on, triple buffering) the tripple buffering improved a bit. but I think it's weird that my fps drops on the source engine.
I am playing on 1680x1050, no AA, no AF, everyting high, vsync triple buffering.

my card is overclocked to 700 mhz gpu, 1150 mhz ram just in ati catalyst.
somebody knows these issues?

Don't really see your problem but I would disable v-sync in all games, especially L4D and in COD4, I believe the cap is 90 unless you go into console and set to 0 (unlimited).

For COD4 I think the vsync cap is 60, disabled vsync (fps_max=90) is capped 90, then you can change it to 0 for unlimited.

There is no fps_max command in L4D1. Your only option is to force v-sync through your drivers since Valve v-sync fails. Try turning off v-sync (and triple buffering) and see what happens.

thats weird i can play cod and lfd all maxed out at 1440*900 with my 512mb hd 4670 ddr4.

check your card to check if your fan is spinning right, i hade to change mine, check for gpu temps, format you pc and make clean install with fresh drivers.

allright i think i get it.

1. turn off vsync l4d
2. turn "always on" in the driver settings

lol i have zalman gv1000 installed on it and my temps are 30/40 degrees constantly

maybe i should try overclocking it with rivatuner. (never tried before)

I bet you i know what it is.

Go into CCC click on AA (anti Aliasing) and check use application settings.

Then loook at the little drop down box, click on it and select "box" from the menu.

This used to cause me to get 12fps in cod5 playing 640x480 not set up properly because CCC and the game fight over control.

Also if that doesn't work, go into l4d2, minamize, then remaximize, and tell me if your fps raises.

Weird. I play l4d on everything at max at 1920x1080 on my 4850. I do have the 1 gig ver but I'm not entirely sure if that makes a big impact.
