Is an upgrade from an ati 4850 to a 5770 worth it? Will i really feel a huge performance jump? I am currently playing crysis warhead, nfs shift, and I am hoping to play modern warfare 2 and left for dead 2. Has anyone else done this card swap? Some insight would be great! thanks!

You should see a pretty good performance increase from the 5770. It'll perform as well as a 4870 1GB, although at higher resolutions you'll definitely need more memory.
The only real bonus over the 4870 that the 5770 has is that it's DX11.

And it scales way better in crossfire, And its 40nm and overclocks very well. And uses much less power, And idles lower, Uses 100w @ load. I'd like to say hell yea its worth the upgrade! I used to have a single 4890 and honestly this single card creams it in all of my old games!

There will be a difference similar to going from a 4850 -> 4870
Whether or not that is significant is up to you. (look at some benchies)

5770 is still slower then 4870 1GB and only beats them in CF. I moved from a 4850 512MB -> 4870 1GB and did not notice much difference. I would not upgrade to anything under 5850.

As for scaling, well mine scale VERY well. I get almost 2x the FPS when I crossfire them. And from all the benchies I've read 2 4870 1GB's usually beat out 2 5770's. Not by a huge margin but enough to be noticeable. However, most of those benchies were run with older and immature drivers. Perhaps the new ones will make better use of the hardware.

I went from a 4850 to a 4850x2, and I saw a solid performance jump right there. I can max out crysis at 1680x1050. Not that that's really that cool anymore.

I would not make the upgrade unless it is for another benefit offered by the 5770 other then performance. For example, I went from a 4830 to a 5770 in an HTPC due to the significant lower power consumption. But if you are just basing your upgrade on sheer performance, I would not recommend it.

Not worth the money. That would be a big investment for a subtle increase in performance. What games does the 4850 struggle with at 1080p? Mine tears through stuff. 2 of them are brutal.
