Default Video card avice, to upgrade or not to and what option?

ok I have 3 options here.
I am wanting to make the move to DX11 since I now have Windows 7. I am however hundreds and hundreds of dollars over my budget as it is for the year. So there are 3 choices I have.

1. Keep my current 2x 4870s in crossfire
2. Sale the 4870s and get 3x 5770s
3. Sale the 4870s and pick up 1x 5870

My main goals: Better AA and AF performance in DX9 and DX10 games + support for DX11.

Should I wait until the HD6xxx series comes out or jump into the 5xxx series now or near the end of it?

Please give me your thoughts. free rep for the best option offered!

Wait for the 5870 to become more readily available and cheaper, then sell your 4870s and get a 5870.

number 1 i would die before i throw my money away on Nvidia, too many problems with them for me, but thats me,

Secondly no i am not hurting too bad in performance in alot of my games but when you like to run 8X+ fsaa and x16+ AF in almost every game (DX9) it can still put a hurt on me. (drop into the 40s-50s in some games)

besides I want DX11 support, thats the big thing.

my 2 cents... I say keep your set up until 1. Nvidia brings out their cards... not to buy one, but because prices should drop. 2. 5850 and 5870 are impossible to find right now. 3. there really isn't any thing with DX11 yet. Someone said maybe a game or two being released in Dec.
I'm keeping my set up until at least Jan., by then 5850's and 5870's should be more readily available and/or more affordable. plus 59** is rumored to hit the market. 5770 seem decent, but isn't really that big of a step up. Just be patient and get a good step up.

I actually meant we need to wait for competition to lower prices. My 1st choice next year will be 5870 Crossfire once the drivers have matured

Wait for Nvidia to release their DX11 cards then decide. (option 1)
Go for selling the 4870's and buy the dual 5770's to sell when new 6xxx series arrives or nvidia's new card. (option 2)
Or think whats best for you (option 3)

i AGREE!! I had huge problems out of ATi with my X1950XTX Crossfire setup and I decided I would never buy another ATi card again, But when AMD bought them and the HD3000 series eventualy rolled out, I returned to ATi again and I do not see me ditching them any time soon. Do not get me wrong, Nvidia has had many great cards over the years. Many I have had and liked but ultimately Motherbord chipsets, early lack of SLi support and a huge lack of features that I can actualy make use of has made me turn my back on them. I do not plan to get Nvidia cards for 1 reason and 1 reason only. I have a 790FX motherboard. Crossfire is my platform. Aside from that I have no current beef with nvidia even tho ATi is still my brand of choice.

I know DX11 has not hit the main stream yet but I am not ultimately happy with the performance of my HD4870s in crossfire. Do not get me wrong, It is far better performance than any game I have ever ran. But I still take framerate hits on older games maxed. World of Warcraft still stutters from time to time, well not a stutter, but fps drops in select few areas of the game, very few as it is It still irritates me, secondly I had 3x 4870s at 1 point and I was very pissed at the lack of performance boost I got. give or take at the time I had an X3 720 only clocked at 3.0ghz so It was more than likely the problem. I guess for now the question is, what will give the best performance boost in FSAA x8 or higher while running in 1920x1200 resolution.
Also I am getting Dragon Age Origions tonight and I fear it isnt going to run but so great at high resolution as graphicly demanding as it looks but I will find out soon.

So far option 3 is looking like the winner here. Anyone know if it will increase performance over my 4870s with High AF and FSAA settings?

If I were you, I would sell 4870 cf and buy 5870.
I prefer single card solution.
