I'm actually using a 8800GT now. I sold the GTX260 so I could get a 5800 series, but my credit card expired when the 5850s came out, and when I got my new card, they were all gone. Have been looking for one for 4 weeks I think
I personally think the shortage will last till the beginning of next year at least.

All Fry's in Texas are out of 5870s but that's great news for any OCN member in Seattle, at least some people can buy the card now and enjoy it

Rats. Sorry to hear your tale of unfortunate luck. Hopefully AMD/ATI can get this sorted out quickly.

Incidentally, this isn't the first time a company's been caught flat-footed.

The Cabbage Patch Dolls (don't laugh, mmkay ) were introduced in the early 1980s just on the tail of a bruising economic recession. The company, being understandably cautious, produced too few of them and didn't anticipate the strong demand from children who just HAD to have one.

Pretty strong parallels here, ATI/AMD probably didn't expect people to want these things even though they were priced quite attractively. I remember seeing 5770s for like $150 Canadian, which is pretty damn good considering a 4870 still costs about that much.

Alas.

Really tired of trying to find one, so screw this. I will get a 5950/5970 if they come out this month, may not be the most logical or reasonable choice, but better than paying $350 for a 5850 at Fry's. Plus I never had a 600 dollars video card before
That sucks man. 5870 stocks fail worse than the wii stock levels at launch.

I had a $600 card, it was the 7800GTX back in 6/2005 I believe. Now its worth $20 at best, lol.
