Default Ati 5850 @ 120HZ

I just bought an ATi 5850 and when i used it on my Samsung 2233RZ monitor that supports real 120 HZ, i noticed that the screen flickers from tiem to time, i think it's artifacts. These flickers appear once at a few seconds, if i reduce the refresh rate to 60, everything is fine.
Is there any way to solve this problem? or should i return this card and get a nvidia?

Btw, i tried this monitor also on an computer that had a nvidia 6800 card, and it runned without any problems @ 120 Hz.
What's to be done?

it has something to do with the memory or core frequency iirc, the default is low to drive the 120Hz monitor.

edit- here-

OK I know why this issue occurs now. It is not a hardware fault. The cards 2D speed is too low to drive a 120Hz monitor. AMD are working on a fix to have a higher 2D speed should 120Hz be set. That will take a while though.
The issue shouldn't occur in games as obviously the card uses a higher clockspeed while gaming.
For now you could use a overclocking util such as amdgpuclock or whatever to set a higher 2d clock speed.

I read this some time ago, but in the end no solution was given.
I just hoped someone here knew how to solve such a problem..
it seems that ATI is a poor company frmo my POV, since my old 6800 was supporting 120 HZ without any problems.

?? a 2D profile with, say 500MHz GDDR5 frequnecy doesn't work out for you? you can simply use rivatuner and keep the card in 3D clocks all the time and it should be fine that way too.
an old ati card will also support it fine, its the powerplay on newer ati cards that's unfortunately causing the issue.

well are you sure the problem could be from the drivers?
Maybe it\'s a physical problem inside the card which will never allow this card to run @ 120hz.

RMA it. Or phone to retailer and ask.
