Default Crossfire without Bridge cable

Ok so here's the problem.

Just brought a the Saphire card and Gigabyte board thats in my sig, the spec's on the card stated it was good to croddfire but when i pulled it out of the box there's no connector for the bridging cables.

But even without the cable i've managed to get then to go Crossfire (i think) added approx 20 percent in 3DMark06 up to 9919. Does it matter that one model isn't designed for crossfire??

Also is there a way to get this going TriHybrid crossfire?

i don't know about tri-fire,but i had 2 x1650's in crossfire that did not need a cf bridge, but my hd3850's have the bridge, never tried to enable cf without the bridge on the hd3850's though.

CF will work but not with full power thats why you need the cf bridge

Call Sapphire and/or Gigabyte and ask them to send you 1 or 2 since they were forgotten in the box. You do need the bridge(s) for crossfire to perform fully.

The crossfire-bridges aren't in use (for the moment) so you should be fine without. For confirmation you should search for the interview with the CTO of the gfx-department of AMD. Apparently the AFR-mode does not perform any better with the bridge than over PCIe.

And here is a table, which I suppose takes precedence over the opinion of their CTO.

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/....php?p=4043450

Scroll to half that page. Or read the rest too. They all say 1+ bridge(s) for 2-way and 2 for N-way Crossfire.
Good luck.

Default Crossfire without Bridge cable

Thanks everyone for the thoughts, the saphire actually has no connecttion on the board to plug the cable into. i've got them over vlocked to 800/980 (saphire) and 835/1100 (ASUS) which has got me up to 10550 in 3Dmark06 but in real gaming i'm not noticing much to feel different in CODMW or GRID maybe i should reload Crysis and give it a go.

I actually brought the cable when i was still at the shop once i found the motherboard did not come with one.
