Default ATI HD5770 Any good?

Im a casual gamer, and I am desparate for another card to replace my Nvidia 8400GS at the moment. I was thinking about the 5770, and whether it would be worth it over 4870 which is faster and cheaper but no dx11.
Again, I'm again a casual gamer, and I don't want to be buying a new graphics card in maybe 2 years, so do you think I should get 5770 because it is dx11?
I think HD5850 might be too expensive for me.
Btw, I game at 1440x900 --- is 5770 sufficient for me?

Also, how much performance increase should I see from 8400GS ---> HD5770?

5770 is the way to go, uses less power, and runs cooler, now upon driver releases u will get more and more performance gains, as well it supports dx11 so it will out match its dx10 counterparts.

now going from the 8400gs to 5770 would be anywhere from 10-12 times the performance

I'm like you mate. Originally was gonna go with another nVidia card (GTX 260 core 216 ya know) but then I saw the 5770 going for $159. So why not hit on the DX11 and basically get amazing graphics eh?
You won't see uber performance increase (I believe it performs worse than the 4890) but the benchmarks I've seen still make it out to be an amazing card for the price. It doesn't get low frames... Great power consumption... It's probably all around the best card you can get right now for the price to what you get ratio, me thinks.

I've heard great things, and definitely going with it. I suggest you do to!

I'd also like to add that it was useful info, as not only will GT200 prices drop but HD4800 and HD5X00's as well (logically).
