Default 2 5770's crossfire Eyefinity

So not to long ago i spent to much money and ordered a 5870 so i could get a 3 monitor setup working, then i learned about the whole active display port thing. So i was lucky enough to swap it out for 3 5770's saving me about $100, and giving me 4 dvi channels, but now i learned that crossfire eyefinity doesn't work. is this correct or is there something i'm just missing?

The way I understand it you can not run Eyefinity with 3 cards. Only 2 monitors.

With 2 cards you can run 3 monitors.

With 1 card, > 3 monitors.

Sorry to burst your bubble.

Note: I read this info off of someone else's post so I could be mistaken. Please correct me if I am.

from what i understand. 1 card supports 3 monitors (with exception of the 5870 eyefinity edition which does 6 monitors).

thank you kkbob33 for pointing out my typo i meant to say that i have 2 5770's

and i have 3 monitors hooked up and it works wonderfully but i want to use eyefinity for gaming and really smooth interface, but i cannot create a group with all 3 monitors, I can only group the monitors that are on each card.

does anyone know a way to crossfire and group monitors together using eyefinity across a multi gpu setup? sorry if i am not being clear, preoccupied at work.

You may very well be correct, but I am pretty certain that Tri-Fire can only run 2 monitors.

edit: Just saw your above post. You should be fine. Will it not let you run it?

On a side note: A few months before I purchased my 2 4870s for Xfire they enabled multi-monitor support in the drivers for 2 card setups. Since I love having more than one monitor I would not crossfire unless it was possible .

I think you have to have a monitor with Display Port for eyefinity to work. Can anyone confirm this?

Right that makes sense. I am just trying to group the monitors across multiple GPU's that are connected via crossfire bridges. It makes sense in my head. The software i just don't think is there. And i really don't want to spend $100 for an adapter

Did you try hooking up all 3 monitors to the first GPU?

You need to have a monitor with display port or you need to purchase an active display port to DVI adapter because the cards only have 2 streams for DVI (which is the same technology the HDMI uses) but i have 2 cards giving me 4 streams thus I can easily get 4 screens connected without an issue, but eyefinity converts multiple monitors into a single giant monitor (spanning multiple monitors) this can give you great panaramic screens in games like fps, RTS games, and racing games and such.

If someone could correct me on the terminology, (because i know streams is not quite right) it would be much appreciated.
