Ok so I recive my HD 5770 in the post today and it looks awesome.

I have installed a fresh copy of XP Pro and installed the latest drivers from the XFX website.

However when I start 3DMark the screen goes black and then comes back with a window titled 'VPU Recover' and a message and a 'send' and 'do not send' buttons, this happens everytime.

It was doing this before too.

Is this a problem with my card or are the drivers trollin?

The message is: "VPU Recover hsa reset your graphics accelerator as it was no longer responding to graphic driver commands"

Reinstall drivers?
Is the video card overheating?
Is the fan spinning?
Is all the power getting to the card?
Or maybe it's telling you to install Vista/7 for DX10/11 support

It's brand new and CCC reports temps of 57C

Doesn't sound like overheating is the problem.

CoD:MW won't start either, gives me some DX error as well as 3DMark.

I just updated DX too -.-

Meh, Fri 13th delivery wasn't a good idea I knew it!

I would setup Setup Riva Tuner and crank the fan to full and try it to rule out over heating.


Wowo didnt even realize its Friday the 13th. Can anyone guess why its so infamous?

53 Idle because it won't load anything to allow it to stress at all.

Would that fact that on overdrive a clock of 850MHz is selected yet it is showing 400MHz as the GPU clock have anything to do with it?

check the other temps like vrm and shader core through rivatuner.
