Default HD 4200 + HD 3450 Overclocking

I have an ECS A785GM-M motherboard and a HD 3450. (unsure which brand, but it has a 80mm fan on it)

When running in hybrid crossfire, what's the max I can overclock them to? Just the HD 4200 I can safely put it at 950mhz core. The HD 3450 I am unsure if it will go that high.

Also, what should I set the shared memory at for best performance? I don't care much about graphics, I just want to be able to play without it lagging.

yea you can OC them, they might not OC as high as if they were stand alone but yes you can OC them. you might wanna put a good fan on the NB of the mobo to ffset the extra heat or even buy an aftermarket chipset cooler.

EDIT: Ok, after looking at a pic of your mobo, i would highly suggest at least zip-tying a small 40-60mm fan on your NB cooler blowing air away from your gpu

I have a few 80mm fans sitting around in a box of old pc stuff, I'll see if I can't rig that up somehow. Also, do you think lapping the heatsinks + replacing thermal paste would give me more peace of mind on temps or is that a waste of time?

yes, replacing the thermal paste would help a bit, but try to get some arctic silver ceramique or another type of non-conductive thermal paste for the chipsets. Also, i wouldn't lap the NB cooler as it wouldn't make much of a difference, only the cpu heatsink and maybe even the processor if you want to(use IC7 diamond thermal paste for the CPU).

EDIT: i just saw that you are using a stock heatsink and the roswill case has that stock HS duct. If you wanna try for higher cpu speeds and lower temps, you could always buy an aftermarket heatsink.

Here, I found some CPU coolers that blow air downwards on the mobo and would benefit from that side air duct:

Corsair H50(I would recommend this over everything else I post)

Thermaltake MaxOrb CL-P0369 120mm CPU Cooler(I'd recommend this 2nd)

Thermaltake CLP0527 92mm CPU Cooler(3rd)

ZALMAN CNPS8700 CPU Cooler(I'd recommend this if you didn't want any of the above choices)

Nice result, keep an eye/finger on your mobo though, that onboard chip will be BBQ'd if you aren't careful.

I put an extra fan in that blows directly on the hd 4200 heatsink. I now have the hd 4200 at 850mhz/500mhz :P
