Default Thinking about going ati for next GPu upgrade

Im Considering getting 3 HD5850s or 2 HD5870s and a nvidia 9800GT or 9800GTX for folding and physx. What do you guys think? Or should i wait on nvidia pricing?

You can't run an nVidia card as PhysX with an ATI card. Nvidia locked that feature out at the driver level once they figured out people were doing it.

And why in the world would you need three 5870s!? Are you playing Crysis on a 5120x3200 resolution? At least wait for the 5970 to drop, one of those should be enough for anyone.

I'd wait to see what nVidia brings to the table. Your 260s will last for another few months.

Get the 5850 over the 5870 because the 160SP don't make much difference considering the price.

Ok.

But the early Windows 7 PhysX drivers weren't very good... most of the benchmarks I have seen give terrible performance for pre-lockout drivers.

There's also a hack. When the Nvidia drivers ask if there is an ATI GPU present, the hack sends back negative even if there is. You can use it with any of the drivers.

OP, I'd wait. 260's are plenty until Nvidia's cards come out.

Do you really need 3 5850's for 1920x1200?

2 will be fine.
