I think I hate my 4890. It gets too hot, I can't change the voltage, It won't OC to 1 ghz. I think I am going to grab a GTX 285. What do you guys think?

I'll take that card then. I'd be happy with it!

Too hot is 82*c on load. Some Amd tool. It is very basic. Afterburner doesn't work with my card.

Isn't that a normal temp under load with the stock cooler? At least I remember figures like that with my reference 4870, but that was WAY back (about a year, lol).
Just saw the Zalman cooler in your sig. Try doing a reseat to the heatsink, as temps seem much too high for having that cooler. What TIM do you use?

Darn, well try a re-seat again I guess? Unless the fans aren't spinning or something to that effect, I can't understand why temps are so high. Come to think of it, both my old 4870 and 4870x2 ran much hotter than my nVidia cards. I'm not sure why though, because the exhaust heat of the ATi cards was always hotter, so using my terrible thermodynamics estimation:
Air Out of card hot = Good transfer of heat from chip to heatsink = good transfer of heat from heatsink to air HWMonitor proved me wrong though, I guess?

To give you an idea... I have a vapor x 4890 it idles at 57C and using OCCT gpu test at stock 850core, 975mem my card gets up to 90C and (auto)fan speed of 77% using GPU-Z sensors. Note: I don't get any errors either and this stresses the card more than any game I play. These cards run super hot. From what I have read as long as you don't go over 115C you should be OK. I think max thermal temp for these cards is 120-125C. Of course you will get errors and artifacting before 110C. Getting up to 82C is normal and actually doesn't seem that bad with a reference cooler.
