Default Ati 5850 cannot OC it

I really want to OC my ati 5850 but it seems that with any OC program i try, i get the KERNEL error all the time: " the kernel mode driver does not seem to be running ".
I have used the up to date drivers from ati's site, I also used the drivers from the CD that came and nothing.
It seems that these OC programs cannot see my card or what?
I am using Windows 7 64 bit.

thx in advance !

I have no experience with Win7, but did you have another card on your rig before this one? If so, did you uninstall the old drivers and reboot before installing the new one?

Yes, but did you reboot after uninstalling the old drivers? You may need a driver cleaner.

What OC app are you trying to use? Try MSI Afterburner if you haven't already.

ok i will try it, just a second, i will come with an update.

Ok well it seems it's working, but what i had in my target was to increase the memory clock of 2d, not just of 3D. Any idea how to do that with MSI Afterburner?
And one extra question;
My default values are :
Core clock - 725 and Memory Clock 1000. Which are the safe values to which i can increase my video card at?

So as a bottom of line the idea for me was to increase my 2D speeds, not 3D. Any thoughts on the idea if this program affects 2d speeds aswell?

Glad it worked
Why would you want to mess with your 2d clocks?
As for OCing, you need input from someone else, I have no experience with 5850, only 5870. I run mine at sig specs.

i need to increase the 2d clocks beause i have a Samsung 2233RZ which runs @ 120HZ. Ati is a little behind with this technology of 120 HZ and the video card's 2d clock is low, and i manually have to increase it using softs like AMD GPU tool. But i can't get it to work, since i get the KERNEL driver not found error !
