Default So Sad...

I have a $2,500 comuter and I got 4514 on 3DMark03. I was just wondering what people got from any X1800, not websites, your scores (if you have an X1800) from 3DMarks03,05, and/or 06. Just wondering, and I want to see what I should exspect from a X1900XT. Right now my computer is basicly a waste of money because I am using Remonster's old RX600, causing me to get horrible scores. Also, with an X1900XT how much more should I get than my friend's 7800GTX slightly OCed. Another thing, for my next computer (getting in like 2 years lol) as of now what should I got with? AMD ATi? AMD nVidia? Intel ATi? Intel nVidia? My brother is going with Intel nVidia, I think will be a good system in a few months, your thoughts?

You should be getting much higher than that. With my 800XL, I scored a little over 12K.

the X1900XT and XTX are both faster than a 7800GTX 512Mb, so both are considerably faster than a GTX 256Mb. with your system, you could score well over 20k in 3DMark03 for sure (i score 18k with my system). for '05, you could probably pass 10k, and for '06, you could probably get close to 5000, or maybe pass it with some overclocking.

right now i think the X1900XTX is a worthy buy, seeing as it's in stock and prices on it are great.

as for the choice for mixing intel/AMD and ati/nvidia, the only thing you should base your decision on is who is faster at the time of your purchase. i don't see intel taking the lead in the gaming world any time soon. as of right now, ATi/nVidia are pretty neck and neck, so there i'd say choose a card based on your budget and reviews at the time you are ready to buy.

EDIT: oh, and you can't complain about your score. you have GREAT hardware.... except for you video card, that is the only reason why your score is so bad. so don't worry about your expensive computer being slow, it's just that one part,

Thats not very nice, Redmonster gave you a RX600 And your saying its horrible and that your computer is a waste now that your using it. I think it was nice of him to let you use it, and different word choice could of been used

Aight, thanks, I bought a Crossfire mobo, to Crossfire two X1900's so I'm AMD/ATi but I was just wondering what other people thought about my choice. I went with AMD because of Dual Core, when I got my computer Intel only had HT Technology which made AMD better. And as you said ATi and nVidia are neck and neck to I went with my brother's old card until the X1900 came out (it come out today, yes!!). I think that was the wrong thing to do, the G71 will be better but I don't need anything faster than a X1900XT anyway. I love that he gave it to me, it just slows my rig down so much I cannot play F.E.A.R. or Doom 3 or BF2 with more than 20FPS. I payed more money for 1GB of memory than Remonster did on that RX600XT. So I spend twice as much money on memory than he did on a Video Card. That's why I don't having the RX600 in my computer now, I'm glad I have it, I just can't play new games with it.

yeah, and in a while as new games come out, just throw another X1900 in there and you get an instant performance boost (plus, by that time the card will probably be cheaper). that's why i bought a GTX right when it came out. had the best of the best then, and now that new stuff is out, prices go down, i buy another one,

That's a smart thing to do but I'm buying my cards a little bit differently. I buy one in March (Price drops, reviews come, I'm sure its good, maybe wait for a rebate). Then when I see I cannot play a game maxed out, or I get 15FPS when it's maxed out I put in another X1900 and maybe upgrade another part (with the money I saved from the rebate or whatever). Then I wait and wait until my Crossfire setup becomes outdated and buy a new mobo. Hopefully this rig will last me 2-3 years.

lol 2 yrs, lol sorry

Basically once dx10 comes out and m socket is the standard it will be time to upgrade. Unless they really work on getting that physics card out we will all need faster cpu's and vid cards by the beginning of next year.

If you plan on crossfiring i would suggest just going x1800xt , the 1900 only offers so much performance increase from what ive seen. But if you are going to be playing your games at like 2048x1920 resolution then it should hold you over for at least until the end of the year id bet.

Also i read that your parents are buying this crap for you later, so if yoiu wait a few weeks the 7900's will be out. Id wait at least until then if i were going to be spending like a grand on vid cards because im sure their beast will be faster than the 1900's.

edit: I cant tell if you run an LCD or crt, but if you have an LCD stick with the 1800xt or your wasting the power of the 1900. damn lcds only go to 1280...

i know you can run 2 x1600 in crossifre without a mastercard, maybe the x600 can do it too but i am not sure, but it might be worth checking it out. Congrats on the system, at least you have lots of upgrade options. with an r580 you'll blow alot of other systems out of the water.
