Just a plain simple blog of a very little outgoing person that I am.
Expect me to rave about my folding milestones than my troubles in life, my personality keeps almost all of them within myself.

Expect me to rave about my folding milestones than my troubles in life, my personality keeps almost all of them within myself.
Alright... I need to let this one out.
So far OCN has been clearly my most visited site since July '08. Helping and be helped, that's what my policy is, so far OCN has been great, with a ton of great people, although most of my posts here are to help, but this blog entry is nothing about hardware and technology, it's just simple entry to "de-pressurize" me...
This is at work, I began working December 05 on a computer store, where I still am, and currently writing this blog entry, for 3 years I was on a what I can call a yearly contract, and finally after 3 years I am here to stay. My boss for the past years didn't give me a single raise, until I finished the last contract, promises and more promises, and after all this time I went from miserable €500 to €550, now with a car loan to pay every month that's nearly half of the salary
What's really bothering me is that we got a new work colleague, began 6 months ago, and since then I feel transparent, why? -I've always heard from my boss that this company's policy is that in the same duties, older workers have higher salary-
My boss' excuse for the delayed and low raise is because I'm not "too outgoing", which I'm not, I'm usually pretty quiet and keep everything inside my mind. Imho ones salary should depend on their duty and on how well they perform it, completed by their time working in the company not by their personality...
Result? I was outpayed and to add everyone but me and and another older than me in the company mate got a "productivity bonus", including the new guy...
Don't get me the wrong idea, I could care less about what he gets payed or not, what I do care is the lame excuse I got from the boss, then if everyone is like him, I'm screwed! "You're not much outgoing? 550€ *turns to another guy* OH you are?! 650€ then! PLUS a bonus!" What messes me around is that I worked hard the past 3 years and I only get a sh.... raise...
Thank you everyone here on OCN

Oh no, your point is completely understood, and yeah, that's a bit crummy. Not is the lack of a raise and being outpaid frusterating, it's also not very motivating.
At this point, what makes your boss think that you would even try to be a bit more outgoing without it being half hearted? After all, it's really difficult to put all your energy into something when others don't completely seem to appreciate it.
For your sake, I hope something gets figured out, whether that means a new job, or the company starts following their own policy.
Take care.Posted 02-02-09 at 06:25 PM by timxirish

You completely got my point. Yeah, it's quite hard to keep going and keep putting my dedication into what I am asked to do when I know what I will accomplish will not be recognized.
I can't be more outgoing than I already am, it's my personality, it should not have to interfere with my duties. Hell in over 3 years I work here I never got late for work and I only missed like 5 days total because I got sick.
Thanks for the support
