So~... yeah, I'm here to talk a bit about myself, I guess some of you should know what's behind the Dragoon nickname I use here.

Now for teh stats!

Name: Diogo Valente
Birth and current location: Lisbon, Portugal
DoB: July 18 1987 (Yeah... almost 22 -_-)
Height:180cm (5 foot 11)
Weight: 72Kg or 158.7 pounds (fast metabolism, I can eat whatever I want without getting fat O_o)

Favorite color: Blue, then Black
Dressing style: My own, my mom says I'm too classical and unlike other guys from my age (???)

Likes:
-Technology
-Photography
-Being alone
-Fantasy, use of imagination to the limit
-Company of a good friend
-Italian and Japanese food
-To learn new stuff
-Straight 12 to 14 hours sleeping o_O
-To travel!

Hates:
-Overcrowded places (But if I really have to be in such places, I can make an effort)
-Computer hardware failiures

Favorite motto: Easy enough as it is...

Now a little about me:

I am usually on the background and people often tend to forget about me, I don't feel too comfortable trying to reach myself into the front row if you know what I mean, I'd make a lousy leader lol

I also don't talk too much, people tend to have a hard time figuring if I'm well or not and most say I am emotionless (I just don't feel the need to show them unless I really have to) , but I can fit in a nice party with people I know and have a roll of fun, just need a "bit" of time to warm myself up, but that's rare

I also like to do some sports, soccer and volleyball mostly, but I love to watch hockey, although not a sport supported in the EU but I support the Vancouver Canucks as I got a good friend from there.

Curiosity killed the cat, yeah, "happened" to me few times, I am very curious and I love to explore and learn new stuff, currently I'm learning Japanese just by myself with any means I can, I can say it's going pretty well and I have little trouble learning new stuff, so... if anyone can also help me... I'd appreciate very much.

Um... I think that is all? I don't know...

Oh yeah! Takes quite a bit to tick me off, even if you achieve that, you probably won't notice

But overall yeah... I'm a pretty nice guy that you can rely on :thumb:

I installed windows XP on a spare HDD, and ran 4 GPU clients and the SMP client, 18000 to 22000 PPD!. That will definitely leave a mark on the next electricity bill :o, and on the other side, that makes me happy to know that my rig is stable enough to fold at full power for 40h at least. Over 600W of folding power to grant me 30000 points, skyrocketing me to 893rd position.

I need to calm down on the 2 day nonstop folding on weekends, else my parents will burn me alive :p

Now I just need to wait for the postbit

I'm really thinking if I should get a dedicated rig to fold. Few calculations threw me into a 200~220W rig to fold 24/7, bringing me 5KWh, and little more than 20€ per month... But then again, I'd throw the VCR on the living room the hell out and introduce my mom to the digital recording era with a HTPC :D

I wonder if I can beat 10k PPD with 2 8800GS and an E6550... Somehow I doubt it though. We'll see what I can do.

So I joined the fold. I've seen a few fellow members from OCN joining for special reasons, their family, their friends. That's something I look up for, and I'm very impressed with their decisions. Myself, I have none of those reasons, luckily my family doesn't have any of those problems, and I really hope no one ever has, but I'm working to find a cure, for anyone that suffers from a terrible fate.

Although I simply cannot afford folding with my rig 24/7 due to the high electicity costs, I'm doing what I can. Fold with my low power server with an Atom 230, fold about 6 hours a day using my GPU, and adding to that while I'm at work, I have a Northwood 2.8GHz and an E4400 working as well about 10h per day. Not enough? Some probably think that... Since thursday night until now, over 5000 points were credited, give me 353 pointers, 511s, 225s, I'll fold them all... :)

Little by little at a time, it's always better than nothing...

So far OCN has been clearly my most visited site since July '08. Helping and be helped, that's what my policy is, so far OCN has been great, with a ton of great people, although most of my posts here are to help, but this blog entry is nothing about hardware and technology, it's just simple entry to "de-pressurize" me...

This is at work, I began working December 05 on a computer store, where I still am, and currently writing this blog entry, for 3 years I was on a what I can call a yearly contract, and finally after 3 years I am here to stay. My boss for the past years didn't give me a single raise, until I finished the last contract, promises and more promises, and after all this time I went from miserable €500 to €550, now with a car loan to pay every month that's nearly half of the salary :(

What's really bothering me is that we got a new work colleague, began 6 months ago, and since then I feel transparent, why? -I've always heard from my boss that this company's policy is that in the same duties, older workers have higher salary-

My boss' excuse for the delayed and low raise is because I'm not "too outgoing", which I'm not, I'm usually pretty quiet and keep everything inside my mind. Imho ones salary should depend on their duty and on how well they perform it, completed by their time working in the company not by their personality...

Result? I was outpayed and to add everyone but me and and another older than me in the company mate got a "productivity bonus", including the new guy...

Don't get me the wrong idea, I could care less about what he gets payed or not, what I do care is the lame excuse I got from the boss, then if everyone is like him, I'm screwed! "You're not much outgoing? 550€ *turns to another guy* OH you are?! 650€ then! PLUS a bonus!" What messes me around is that I worked hard the past 3 years and I only get a sh.... raise...

Thank you everyone here on OCN :)
